Background

Corey Kravitz is Founding Partner of Greenbriar & Russell. He has spent 15 years in executive search for the building and energy sectors. His work centers on the people who run contractors, integrators, engineering firms, energy services companies and equipment manufacturers.

Most recently, Corey was Managing Partner of a national executive search firm. Earlier, he led an energy and building automation search practice and built a building systems and automation practice from scratch.

His searches cover MEP and HVAC contracting, controls and building automation, commissioning, consulting engineering, ESCOs and energy services, critical power and equipment manufacturing. He works with owners, executive teams and private equity sponsors on leadership and technical leadership hires.

Corey also advises owners and sponsors on pay bands, org design and succession. That work shapes how he scopes a search: the role, the reporting line and the pay have to fit together before the first candidate call.

He earned a B.S. in Marketing and a Certificate in Advanced Professional Sales at Northern Illinois University. He was a member of a Vistage CEO peer group in 2024-2025. In 2023, he co-presented "Marketing Yourself to the Energy Industry" for the Association of Energy Engineers.

Corey is based in Chicago and runs searches nationwide. He owns every search, start to finish, through check-ins at 30, 60 and 90 days after the start date.

In his words

I start every search by asking what the business needs this person to deliver, not what the last person in the seat did. A job description lists duties. A business needs outcomes: a branch turned around, a service line built, a backlog that converts at margin. Once we agree on that in writing, everything else gets easier. The list gets shorter and sharper, interviews test the right things, and the person you hire knows what winning looks like on day one.
