Who we are
Greenbriar & Russell is an executive search firm based in Chicago, Illinois. This notice covers greenbriarrussell.com and the personal information we handle in our search work.

What we collect
Information you give us
When you fill out a form on this site, we collect what you enter. That can include your name, contact details, role and company, LinkedIn URL, your message and, only if you choose to share it, your target compensation. If you subscribe to the Market Brief, we collect your email address. If you email us, we keep the correspondence.
Information from public professional sources
When we research a search, we review public professional information. Examples include LinkedIn profiles, company websites, press releases, and industry association and conference listings. We use it to decide who to contact about a specific role.
Technical information
Our servers and security tools record standard log data, including IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. We keep these logs for a limited period, for security and troubleshooting.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is cookieless and reports aggregate numbers, such as page views and referring sites. It does not give us a profile of you.
Bot protection
Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to confirm that a person, not a bot, is submitting. To do that, it may process device and browser signals, such as IP address and browser details. Cloudflare describes this in its Turnstile privacy addendum.
What we don't do
- We don't sell personal information.
- We don't share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We don't use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
- We don't use visitor-identification services that try to name the people or companies visiting the site.
- We don't record visitor sessions or use session replay.
- We don't collect biometric information.
- We never ask about pay history, current pay or criminal history.
How we use information
- To respond to your inquiry.
- To evaluate fit for current and future searches.
- To share a candidate's information with a client, only with that person's permission and only for a specific role.
- To send the Market Brief to people who opt in. Every issue includes a way to unsubscribe.
- To keep the site secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
- To meet legal obligations.
How we use AI
We use AI-assisted tools for research, drafting and organizing information. People make every decision about who we contact, advance or present.
We don't use AI to score or reject candidates. We don't use location, such as a ZIP code, as a proxy for any protected characteristic. We don't use AI video analysis or biometrics.
Who we share information with
- Clients. Only with your permission, and only for a specific role. We never contact your employer or references without your OK.
- Service providers. Cloudflare provides hosting, security, analytics and bot protection. Microsoft provides our email. They process information to deliver their services to us. Their systems may operate outside Illinois and outside the United States.
- Legal and business requirements. We may disclose information when the law requires it, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of the business.
How long we keep it
- Candidate profiles: up to three years after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner.
- Inquiries: two years.
- Market Brief subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Server and security logs: a limited period, as described above.
We keep records longer where the law requires it.
Your choices
Everyone can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about them, regardless of which state they live in. Email privacy@greenbriarrussell.com. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, and we'll tell you when your request is complete.
You can unsubscribe from the Market Brief at any time using the link in any issue.
We honor Global Privacy Control signals. If your browser sends one, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Because we don't sell or share it, the site works the same either way.
We won't treat you differently for using any of these choices.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections to this site. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by Illinois law and any other law that applies.
Children
This site is for working professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Links to other sites
This site links to other sites, such as LinkedIn and public sources cited in our articles. Their privacy practices are their own.
Changes to this notice
When we change this notice, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is material, we'll say so at the top of this page.
